Get Ready Runners, Run Signature is Coming for You

Here we go, runners. Run Signature is here!

Beginning this weekend at the Boston Marathon and then following next week at the London Marathon, Run Signature debuts to help you learn how your body moves and find the shoe that works you and matches the experience you want to have on the run. In most places you see Run Signature, you’ll experience it through a custom Run Signature mobile app that brings the science out of our lab to analyze how you move.

Run Signature is the most holistic and personalized tool out there for analyzing how your body wants to run and helping you find your favorite shoe. It works by starting with you, the runner, and embracing how your body wants to run by examining the entire kinetic chain, not just your feet. Then, after addressing the way your body wants to run, we can start to think about how you want to run and give you the power to choose that experience.

We created new, more intuitive footwear categories that take into account running experiences and support. The new categories—Cushion, Energize, Connect and Speed—make it easier for you to find a shoe that fits your biomechanics and the experience you want to have on the run. Read more about comparing different Run Signature experiences here.

Pillars_012916Beyond Boston and London, Run Signature will be available at the Brooks Trailhead, all Brooks-sponsored events and at a new mobile tour kicking off in May that will visit key events and locations across the country. You’ll find the mobile tour– think Run Happy Island or Cavalcade of Curiosities— at events like the Steamboat Springs Marathon, Grandma’s Marathon, San Francisco Marathon and many more. Stay tuned for more tour stops and dates coming soon.

You might be asking yourself what happened to “Stride” Signature. Our biomechanics research led us to Stride Signature when we first published our white paper in 2013. But as we roll out our shoe fitting philosophy and biomechanics science to, we wanted a name that reflected the impact Run Signature has on a your entire run, and not just what’s happening from your hip to your foot.

Run Signature is the result of years of research Brooks conducted in partnership with Professor Dr. Gert-Peter Brueggemann, Director of the Institute of Biomechanics and Orthopedics at the German Sport University of Cologne, and Prof. Dr. Joseph Hamill, Director of the Biomechanics Lab at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. The team discovered that all runners, including those at the highest elite level, have their own unique way of running and that embracing their natural movement can keep them more comfortable, efficient and happier.

Like the name update to “Run Signature” vs “Stride”, as there is a whole lot going on with our body during our entire run. Kudos to the team that saw this through. Dig the logo too….cover as always. Keep Running Happy!
