4 Ways to Cheer on Your Favorite Runners at the U.S. Marathon Trials

Get a bowl of popcorn, throw on a jersey, crack open a beverage and get ready, runners: the Super Bowl of the marathon is almost here! On Feb. 13 in Los Angeles, the country’s best runners will face off at the U.S. Marathon Team Trials to decide who will go on to represent the USA in Rio de Janeiro.

How can you get involved, though? Here are just a few ways we though of. Check them out and be sure to make your voice heard!

1. Wish them good luck online

Brooks elites may not run the race with their phones, but they’re definitely connected right now. Send them a tweet and wish them luck as they head to LA and prepare to #RunHappytoRio! The names of everyone link through to their Twitter accounts.

2. Tune in on race day

10:22 a.m. Start, Women’s Field

We’ll also post live from the race on Snapchat. Follow us @brooksrunning to join in the party from afar.

3. Cheer with us

Will you be in Southern California for the race to watch in person? Find us on the race course and come cheer with us! We’ll be dotted throughout the loop cheering loudly for Brooks elites and other runners. See the race course map here.

4. Go for a run!

Not all of us can run a 2-hour, 10-minute marathon (Cough, cough. We’re looking at you Ryan Vail!), but that doesn’t mean we can’t join in the spirit of the run. Show your support for everyone running by going on a run yourself. It doesn’t matter how far or how fast. Just run. After all, a run can change a day, a life and even the world!

If you’re in Seattle, stop by our Trailhead store for a Stoplight Run (wear green if you’re single, red if you’re taken, yellow if it’s complicated) just in time for Valentine’s Day followed by a viewing party of the marathon including post-run treats. Bring your own chair as seating is limited. The group run starts at 9 a.m. on Feb. 13 from the Trailhead. Find more details on the fun run and viewing party here.

Brooks elites want to hear from you! Let ‘em know you’re cheering.
