Opt In for a Run This Black Friday

Black Friday shopping may save you lots on your gift list and ensure you’ll get the best deal on that 60″ flat screen TV, but the one thing you won’t see for sale on shelves or online is an amazing run.

The feelings of freedom, accomplishment, joy and sweat on your face are just a couple of the perks of the daily run. And when it comes to the Thanksgiving and the holidays, there’s nothing better than sharing those feelings (except maybe the body sweat one) with our family and friends.

That’s why this year, we’re teaming up with our partners at REI to #OptOutside this Black Friday. Why? First of all, we know a turkey hangover is a real thing, and we all need to work off a few calories from Thanksgiving. We also know that running is a celebration, a gift and a way to make your whole day better; that’s hard to do if you’re busy braving parking lots and shopping lines.

So what will you see from Brooks  on Friday? Not a lot, and we think that’s a good thing.

On our website, we won’t have any Black Friday deals or promotions. We need to get our runs in too, you know!

On social media, we’re sharing just a few #OptOutside images to help remind and inspire you to run, but that’ll be it.

And for our Seattle running buddies, we’re closing our Trailhead store and hosting a group run Friday morning. Visit the event page for details and to RSVP.

So rest up and fuel right after that Turkey Trot, friends! You’ve got miles to put in on Friday and the outdoors are calling your name. Be sure to opt in on the event page and down below in the comments and let us know if you’ll be joining us, REI and countless other runners this Black Friday.

Brooks disclaimer: Sometimes it’s cold out during this time of the year! We know! If you can’t #OptOutside for your run and instead have to opt for the treadmill, that’s cool, and still totally counts. Nice!
