There comes a point in everyone’s training when they start to hit a wall. It usually comes during the winter months when the sky is overcast, the temperature drops and in some parts of the country snow is falling without stop. (Boston, we’re looking at you!)
So how can you beat the winter blues? Treat yo self! That’s right; spark your motivation with a little treat for you.
Runner’s muscles tend to be tight and the winter weather has not helped loosen their muscles up. Pushing against the wind and striding through the snow has only made the knots double. So ditch the foam roller and #treatyoself to a massage. You can’t deny that you need it.
There’s no such thing as too much when it comes to running clothes. If you buy new apparel you’ll have to sport it, therefore you’ll be itching to lace up and get out the door once your mail arrives. All the more reason to #treatyoself.
What’s the saying, give a girl the right pair of shoes and she will conquer the world? Well we say, give a runner the right pair of shoes and they will conquer their winter blues. Upgrade to the latest version of your favorite shoe or try a new style to see if it matches your stride. Either way, you deserve to #treatyoself.
Next time you are at the grocery store pick up a box of cupcake mix, snag a chocolate chip cookie or grab a bag of gummy bears. After putting in all these winter miles you should feel good about indulging your sweet tooth. We’d say skip the ice cream and go for the warmer treats, but that is your call! #treatyoself
When you are out on your run nature’s your backdrop, but how often do you take the time to take it all in? For your next run, select a scenic route and then take a few minutes to embrace the view. It’s hard to dread lacing up when you get to admire the beauty around you. #treatyoself
Our list could go on and on, but we want to know—what do you treat yo self too when you running motivation is low?
