Brooks Employees Share Their 2013 Running Resolutions

Southern California GURU Andrea Beyer achieved her 2012 goal of running as many half-marathons as she could, all under two hours for each race.

Twenty-Twelve was quite the year here at Brooks! We had Brooks athletes compete at the London Games, we named a new Inspiring Coach of the Year and we saw talented young runners smash records at the Brooks PR Invite.

But as 2013 approaches, it’s time to start thinking of New Year’s Resolutions, particularly running resolutions! Here are some of our staff’s running New Year’s Resolutions for 2013.

Andrea Beyer- Southern California GURU

My 2013 goal: 2 marathons, one spring and the other in the fall both under four hours. I’ll run a local marathon here in SoCal in March and then I am really hoping to run the NYC marathon! I was born in New York, my dad lives there, and the race takes place my 40th birthday weekend. In between these two fulls, I would like to continue to compete in several half marathons with my running friends!

Digital Marketing Manager Joel Ballezza accomplished his 2012 goal of finishing a 100-mile trail ultramarathon at the Cascade Crest 100.

My resolution for 2013 is to run four 100-mile races during the year and to stay healthy.

Robyn Winters- eSales Coordinator

I have two big goals for 2013.  Running my first 100 mile race in April!  The second goal is helping my sister qualify for the National Guard Marathon team by completing a 3:45 marathon in May.

Eric Garner- Logistics Specialist

My goal is to run a PR in any event I’ve competed in over the last 5 years, between the 1500m run to the half marathon.

Trish Steele- National GURU Manager

My goal for next year is to do one speed or hill (or non-slow long run) workout a week. Nothing crazy, but I don’t currently do that and I think it would really increase my race times!

Katy Klein- Marketing/PR Coordinator

My New Year’s running resolution is to run more frequently and farther—three times during the week and a longer run on weekends. As a recent Seattle transplant, I’m also committed to braving the weather and not letting a little precipitation keep me indoors. I also want to turn my new dog into a regular running partner.
