Checkout this round-up video from last year’s PR Invitation. This year will bring even faster athletes and race times.

For the first time in 2012, the fastest high school distance runners in the nation will be competing in the same place at the same time. That place is Seattle and the occasion is the Brooks PR Invitational.

These top-ranked high school athletes will be spread between distance and sprint events, setting up the fastest races on the fastest track, the University of Washington’s Dempsey Indoor.

All of the PR Invitational events are stacked full of top-ranked youth athletes. However, the Girls 2-mile is a standout event. Sunday’s matchup will include the #1 and #2 finishers at the Footlocker National Cross Country Championships and guarantees to be an exciting race.

While Molly Seidel and Erin Finn are favorites for the 2-mile, they will have plenty of company from fellow top-ranked runners, Spokane,WA-local Katie Knight and last year’s meet champion, Wesley Frazier.

Frazier won last year’s event with a huge kick in the last 50 meters and finished the indoor season with the Nationals #2 indoor time.  Haley Pierce is fresh off her Deleware State title in this event and comes in with the Nation’s 2nd best time of 10:35.  The stage is set for an epic early season battle of the best girl distance runners this Sunday in Seattle!
