Finally arrived in Beijing this afternoon after a nice little 11 hour flight! Actually went pretty quick since Air Canada has an extensive selection of movies!!
As soon as I made it through the madness at customs I headed straight to the hotel to drop off the bags and then over to the “birds nest” for the 1500m final.
If you can believe it….my Taxi driver had no idea where the National Stadium was located?! Also, known as the “bird’s nest”, the National Stadium is the biggest stadium ever built and the centerpiece of these games. Kind of a big deal to not know where it is but who am I to judge.
I did eventually end up at the stadium where the Olympic spirit runneth over! I have never wanted to go purchase a USA flag and paint “GO USA” on my face till tonight! Everyone was so rallied behind their country and athletes!
Oh, and if you were wondering…..McDonald’s for dinner. I had to order chicken strips off the pictures since I couldn’t explain that I wanted my 4 hamburgers plain.
Well I head up to the Olympics tomorrow afternoon to watch track and field and of course the men’s marathon. I will also make sure Jesse experiences China to its fullest…no more Mai Da Lao (McDonald’s) for dinner….Oh just you wait Jesse!!!!! See you on Thursday afternoon….
Hi Jessie… From California the only thing I found exciting about the event was Shawn Johnson and Phelps. The Chinese in Gymnastics was a comedy show. 4 hamburger plan? hehe.. Sounds like you had a lot of fun. Take care
