On August 24th, when he runs against the world’s best marathoners in Beijing, Brian Sell will be wearing a special version of the Brooks T6 Racer, pictured below. All non-mesh overlays were removed from the forefoot to suit Brian’s preference for running his marathons with no socks. The shoe’s tongue features the American flag and Brian’s nickname: “Sellbo.” The new T6 will be available for purchase in February 2009. (For now, you can check out the next closest thing — the Brooks T5 Racer.)
This shoe is a very lightweight, minimal support racing flat. The vast majority of runners will not find this “enough shoe” for a full marathon.
Luckily Brian is accustomed to racing longer distances in this shoe - so he won’t need to stop half-way. And if you have a light frame and a biomechanically efficient stride, you may be able to get away with it too. We’d just suggest you work up to it in several half-marathon+ races beforehand.
Based on your feedback we may alter the product description to try and make this clear. Thanks!

why is this only “recommended for distances of up to a HALF marathon”? hope brian doesn’t have to stop halfway to change shoes.
